Fort Dodge area students recognized by Iowa governor

Three FD area students were honored by Gov. Kim Reynolds for their academic achievement: Fort Dodge Senior High students, Taylor Hartley and Eli Asay, and St. Edmond Catholic High School student Audrey Kolacia.

The students were honored during the 16th annual Governor’s Scholar Recognition Ceremony on April 29.

The statewide program, sponsored by the Iowa Governor’s Office, Iowa High School Athletic Association, and its title sponsor the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, honored 430 high school seniors from Iowa with awards.

Each high school was invited to select a senior student with the highest academic ranking, based on grade-point average for their first seven semesters.

Students selected had the opportunity to recognize their favorite teacher. They will receive a photo plaque of their meeting with Gov. Reynolds and Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg.

More than 60 percent of students honored will continue their education in Iowa, according to the IHSAA.
