Field Hockey: Bermuda Earn CAC Games Spot

Bermuda’s women’s national field hockey team narrowly lost to Puerto Rico 1-0 in the bronze medal match of the Central American and Caribbean [CAC] Games in Mexico

However, due to their strong showing overall, Bermuda has qualified for the CAC Games 2026 along with Venezuela and Puerto Rico. Mexico, the tournament winner, had prequalified, and host nation Dominican Republic also automatically receives a spot.

Puerto Rico’s starting lineup included Anyia Woods, Sophia Prianti, Lyneishka Leon, Maria Pianetti, Alexis Morales, Antonina Aponte, Sheila Vazquez, Carina Ramirez, Nadia Briddell, Zoe Norton, and Abigail Johnson. Substitutes were Tabatha Aponte, Andrielys Lopez, Tyra Cream, Nilvia Vazquez, and Jade Salas.

Bermuda’s starting lineup featured Christina Stephens-Weser, Alyssa De Silva, Georgia Harris, Elizabeth Stewart, Grace Lightowler, Jessica Hollis, Chrysda Smith, Megan Troake, Abigail Brewer, Jennifer Chisnall, and Elizabeth Davidson. Substitutes included Mackenzie Heaney, Robin Stempel, Heather Sinclair, Cindi Davis, Amber McHugh, and Zaynab Brown.

The lone goal of the match came in the 32nd minute when Alexis Morales scored for Puerto Rico on a penalty corner.
