A little over a month after signing Marcus Williams to a one-year contract, the Arizona Cardinals released the cornerback on Monday.

Williams signed with the Cardinals on April 19 but was deemed expendable after cornerback Jamar Taylor was obtained from the Cleveland Browns for a 2020 sixth-round pick on Saturday.

Williams has appeared in 49 games for the Houston Texans and New York Jets and has 107 tackles, 10 interceptions, 20 passes defensed and two forced fumbles.

Last season, Williams played in five games with the Jets before being released. He was then claimed on waivers by the Texans, with whom he collected 12 tackles and one interception in 10 games.
